The Semi Industrial Sewing Machine

Standard

Ahah!

We finally have an explanation of what a “semi-industrial” sewing machine is.

A gentleman who flogs “semi-industrial” 201’s and suchlike on Ebay is now saying that

“The machines I sell are classed as Semi-Industrial as they are of Industrial strength all metal construction.”

Yes, well …

(Thanks to Karen for drawing my attention to that one)

OK, so on Ebay, “semi industrial” means “not made of plastic”, “heavy duty” seems to mean “made of cast iron”, and that explains why even the truly awful Singer 275 is touted as a “heavy duty semi-industrial machine” on there.

As I think I’ve said somewhere else, at this rate it won’t be long before the Hello Kitty Sewing Machine’s semi-industrial too …
