How a sewing machine works – another video!

Standard

I’m indebted to Chris for reminding me of this video, about which I’d completely forgotten.  It’s getting to be a little dated now, but it’s still a goodie …

Right … last night we had the first hard frost of the winter, today is November the last, and it won’t be long now before some shops start annoying their customers by playing that awful 40-year-old Christmas record by Slade every half hour.  So I’m off to the charity shop in a bit to ask the woman behind the counter who wore the Santa hat with “Bah humbug!” on it last Christmas where she got it from.

Have a good weekend, folks.

  2. Your link doesn´t work in Germany, but searching for “Tim Hunkin sewing” does the trick.
He has a funny style to tell the story – thanks to let my know about this broadcast.

  3. I rarely watch videos (short attention span) but for some reason I clicked on this and found it fascinating. It makes me appreciate my three vintage Singers even more.

  4. Wow! Great information. I enjoyed watching this video.

  5. Fabulous video – hadn’t seen it before – loved it….

I live in Paignton around the corner from Oldway which is imminently to be turned into an hotel….
I don’t know what will happen to many of the old machines in the foyer….
The interior of the place is all a bit rococo for my taste – all opulence & showing off ‘Singer’ money….

The machines are great but the family was a strange lot !

  6. Oh how utterly fabulous! Must share this with my friends at The Sewing Forum! It’s just so informative and made a really fabulous start to my day. Thanks, Sid! 😀 x

  7. It’s shocking to realise that the Slade “classic” is 40years old! I first heard it when I was 17 so that makes me…..57??? Surely some mistake!
